Lanzarote a Spanish island in the eastern part of the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 130 km off the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula , it stands as the fourth largest of the islands.
Lanzarote is a small island roughly about 30 miles long and 11 miles wide, driving around the island is very easy and convenient for seeing the volcanic caves of the island, and also the Montana del Fuego, a mountain with lava fields and craters.
There are many kinds of plants and wildlife on the island, both in the field areas and on the rocks, where a number of new species has evolved and adapted to its environment.
Vineyards are a source of good wine production in Lanzarote, the areas of cultivation for vines are protected and well maintained with traditional irrigation methods. As Lanzarote is volcanic in origin the ground is very fertile and allows for rich crops and soil.
The mountain area of Lanzarote is called Timanfaya National Park the highest peak is PeƱas del Chache reaching 670 m above sea level. The "Tunnel of Atlantis" is the largest submerged volcanic tunnel in the world. Lanzarote is the easternmost island of the Canary Islands and has volcanic origin, it was born of fiery eruptions and has solidified lava streams as well as extravagant rock formations.
